YAMAZAKURA Single malt Azumi 2025 edition

YAMAZAKURA Single malt Azumi 2025 edition
The Sasanokawa Brewery, which owns the Azumi distillery, dominated the whiskey boom of the 1980s, leading the way as the "Cherry of the North (Sasanokawa Brewery), Toa of the East (Toa Brewery including Hanyu distillery), and Mars of the West (Hombo Brewery)".
What is Cherry?
It was a blended whiskey sold by the Sasanokawa Brewery at the time, and was named after the "Yamazakura Brewery" which was the original establishment of the Sasanokawa Brewery.
In fact, it is related to Toa Brewery...!
When Toa Shuzo closed the Hanyu Distillery
There is an anecdote that he took on the role of storing the original whiskey at the Hanyu distillery because he thought that "it would be a great loss to the whiskey industry to lose these original whiskey products.
Incidentally, it is heartening to think that this original malt is now being sold as Ichiro's Malt, which is currently causing a stir in Japan and abroad.
Ando 2025
The annual EDITION series is here again this year.
The new EDITION 2025 is a carefully selected blend of multiple barrel aged (sherry, wine, and peated) wines based on the company's own non-peated wines.
It has a fresh, gorgeous aroma and a clean sweetness that is typical of the Azumi distillery.
