The Inchgower distillery is located in the small port town of Buckie, about 8 km east of the mouth of the Spey River on the border between Speyside and the East Highlands in County Murray, Scotland.
Inch" in Inchgower means "island" or "meadow by the river" in Gaelic, and "gower" means "goat. In other words, the literal translation of "Inch Gower" is "goat pasture by the river.
Inchgower is often treated as a key malt for blended whiskey, and single malts are very rare to obtain, with Inchgower shipping only 1% of its approximately 3 million liters of production capacity as single malt.
