At first glance, the wine seems powerful and heavy, but the palate is surprisingly delicate and complex. Salted caramel, ripe melon, and apricot sweetness are the first flavors to emerge, which eventually give way to rich chocolate and coconut flavors. An earthy minerality and a long, smoky finish round things out and add depth.

This new 16.1 is aged in first fill bourbon barrels. The previous "15.1" was vatted in bourbon and recharring barrels, but once again it is 100% bourbon barrels, which is the simplest and creates the most unique Octomore.
Barley is 100% Scottish Concerto variety. The phenol value is 101.4 PPM; the previous brew was "108.2 PPM," so the value is almost the same. The entire series has a high alcohol content, yet it is strangely easy to drink. 16.1" is no exception. Please give it a try.
