Today, July 26, is "Ghost Day," the day in 1825 when "Tokaido Yotsuya Ghost Story" by Tsuruya Nanboku IV was first performed at Nakamuraza, one of the three theaters in Edo.

Today's whisky is Glencadam, which was founded in 1825 and is known as the "cream of the barley".
It is characterized by creamy, sweet flavors of citrus, ripe fruit, and, with longer aging, custard and marmalade.

Located in Brechin, Angus, in the East Highlands, it has changed owners and closed down several times, but is now being produced again through the acquisition of Angus Dundee.
In 1959, it underwent a major renovation and became one of the "magical seven pillars" of Ballantine 17 Year Old, also known as The Scotch.

This bottle is from the Hunter Lane Old Malt Cask Series, usually bottled at 50°, but this is a Japan-only "Special Cask" at 55.7°.
Aged 22 years, 1991 Dec-2014 Sep, refill hogshead.
It is a true gem, with a creamy aroma and orange that is typical of Glencadam!

Speaking of ghost stories, "Ghost Stories," the debut novel by Hiroshima-based Mei Ding, was named one of Pitchfork's The Best Experimental Albums of 2018.
