Tormore Distillery is architecturally the most elegant of all malt distilleries."
In 1958, Tormore Distillery became the first malt distillery built in Speyside in the 20th century, more than half a century after Glen Elgin in 1898.
For the brewing water, we use water from the Akwokie Burn, a clear stream that flows through granitic hills and joins the Spey River, which is soft water with a slight peaty flavor said to be ideal for whiskey making.
It is mainly a blended base for Ballantine and Long John, and has a somewhat minor position, but we hope you will try this bottle, which meets your order of "Speyside, but I want something out of the standard"!
From the importer's data.
Nose: Cloves, tonka beans (sweet and aromatic, similar to vanilla and apricot), raisins, leather, pastry, biscuit, crumbs, dried berries. Slight woody spiciness. More mineral and elegant with added water.
Mouth: very creamy, like grappa or brandy. Old cellar minerality, subtle spiciness and sweetness. With a slight addition of water, raisins come to the fore, reminiscent of brandy.
Finish: Soft, subtle spiciness, mineral nuances and ripeness leave a full-bodied impression.
